Polling District & Polling Station review 2011-12
The Representation of the People Act 1983 places a duty on us to divide the district into polling districts and to designate a polling place for each district. We also have a duty to keep these polling arrangements under review.
The Electoral Administration Act 2006 introduced amendments to the 1983 Act. We must conduct a full review of its polling districts and polling places every four years.
The last general review in Wycombe took place in 2007/08. As the timetable below shows, the current review will be completed early in 2012. However, adjustments in the boundaries of polling districts and the designation of polling places can be proposed by the Returning Officer and the electoral services staff, often in response to changes in ward boundaries or to the availability of premises that can be reasonably designated as polling stations.
The boundaries of our polling districts are currently co-terminous with the existing district and parish ward boundaries. In several locations, district and parish wards are divided into two or more polling districts, because this arrangement is convenient to the electors. In many cases, no changes have been recommended by the Returning Officer, who considers that change for changes sake should be avoided in the review because it proves disruptive to the electors and their convenience. Additionally no changes can be made to parish or parish ward boundaries in this review.
Detailed maps of wards where changes have been proposed and a list of current polling stations is available to download below
