Charges for information
Our aim is to make as much information available free of charge. If information is available under the Publication Scheme and accessed directly via the website, information provided is free of charge. If we are requested to provide hard copies of information on our website, charges will apply.
For information not available via the Publication Scheme (on our website), and requiring individual attention to provide, there may be a charge for release of the information. Where such a request involves less than 18 hours (2.5 working days) of officer time to retrieve, there will be no charge, apart from copy costs. Where officer time to retrieve the information requested is estimated to take 18 hours or more, we are entitled to levy a fee of £450 plus £20 for each additional hour spent.
The requester of the information will be informed that the request will cost more than £450 as early on in the process as possible, so that they have the option to adjust their request. If the requester requires recorded information entailing over 18 hours officer time to retrieve, the fee must be paid before we will start to retrieve the information.
Charges for Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
Photocopying and printing:
A4 black and white: 20 pence per sheet
A3 black and white: 40 pence per sheet
A4 colour: 30 pence per sheet
A3 colour: 50 pence per sheet
Charges apply once the total is £10 or over - this equates to 100 sheets of A4; or 66 sheets of A3. Second class postage and packing charges will also apply for all charged information sent out under FOI. Where there is an existing charge for information for example copies of the Local Plan, these charges will still apply.
Charges for Environmental Information Regulations Requests
In the interests of consistency, rather than applying the "reasonable charge" allowed within the regulations, we have decided not to charge for EIR requests provided the cost of the request does not exceed the "appropriate limit" specified in the FOIA Fees Regulations.
If it is estimated that the EIR request will take less than 18 hours to complete and there is no reason to withhold the information, the request will be dealt with free of charge save any costs which may apply under photocopying and printing.
If it is estimated that a request will take more than 18 hours to complete, consider whether the request is manifestly unreasonable or assist the applicant to make the request smaller.
