Ward budgets
What are ward budgets?
In 2004 we introduced a scheme, known as ward budgets, which enables all district councillors to contribute money to support organisations and projects that benefit the communities within their local area.
The scheme has been a success and to date, hundreds of different initiatives, from skate parks to village days have received support from local councillors.
How much does each councillor have available to spend?
Each councillor is entitled to an annual allowance which varies depending on the number of residents living within their ward; this year the budgets range from £460 to £630. The budget does not have to be spent in one go and can be split between a number of different recipients.
What has the money been spent on this year?
The spreadsheet below gives an indication of the projects and organisations that have received funding so far this year and will be updated on a monthly basis.
