Credit and debit card

PLEASE NOTE: Payments made by credit card will be subject to an additional charge which equates to the card transaction charge currently levied on the Council by operating banks.

Details of this charge will be displayed before you confirm acceptance of your payment and there is an option to cancel the transaction should you wish.

This transaction charge applies to credit card payments only, not debit card payments. These charges do not apply for penalty charge notices.

Pay your council tax, business rates, overpayment of benefits or invoice at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet by debit card. To make a payment, you will need a bar coded bill/letter or a rent payment card.

Council bills and services such as council tax and rents can also be paid for using your credit or debit card at our information centres in Marlow and Princes Risborough. Certain council services, such as special collections, pest control and licensing, can be paid for in the customer services centre using your credit or debit card.

Direct debit

Direct debit means that payments are taken directly from your bank/building society account. This is the most cost effective method of payment, and means that you won't miss a payment. All direct debits are covered by the direct debit guarantee.

  • You can make direct debit payments for council tax on any one of four payment dates to suit you: 1, 10, 15 or 25 of the month.
  • You can make direct debit payments for business rates on either of two dates to suit you: 1 or 15 of the month.
  • You can set up a direct debit over the phone by calling 01494 421 324 for council tax and 01494 421 060 for business rates.
  • Or you can download the direct debit mandate form below, and send the completed form to us.
  • Council tenants/leaseholders will be given the opportunity to pay housing rent by direct debit from early 2009.
