Ongoing consultations

Polling District and Polling Station review 2011-12

From Friday 21 October until Sunday 11 December, we are undertaking a review on our polling district and stations across Wycombe district. The Representation of the People Act 1983 places a duty on the Council to divide the district into polling districts and to designate a polling place for each district. The Council also has a duty to keep these polling arrangements under review.

The Electoral Administration Act 2006 introduced amendments to the 1983 Act. The Council must conduct a full review of its polling districts and polling places every four years. For further information please see Polling District and Polling Station review 2011-12

Below are some examples of consultations (now closed) that we have recently undertaken.

Delivery and Site Allocations document consultation (closed 14 October 2011)

From Friday 2 September until Friday 14 October, we undertook a final round of consultation on the Delivery and Site Allocations document. The Delivery and Site Allocations document sets out our plans to support our town and district centres, including specific policies for High Wycombe, including the town centre masterplan, Marlow and Princes Risborough town centres and plans for regenerating key town centre development sites. It also puts in place vital policies to manage future development across the district. New play area for under 8s at Totteridge Recreation Ground (closed 4 October 2011)

The Green Space team wanted to hear ideas for a possible upgrade of the play area next to the car park at Totteridge Recreation Ground, to provide equipment for the under 8s age group. Suggestions about they types of equipment the local community would like to see included will be incorporated into the design specification which will be going out to tender by the end of the year. Consultation on the community facilities strategy update (closed 9 August 2011)

The community facilities strategy was adopted by Council in June 2009. It provides the Council with a clear plan for developing community facilities in the future as well as providing the justification for Section 106 contributions requested from developers. As the strategy is now two years old an update was released for public consultation, to encourage input from the community and stakeholders in relation to any changes in provision and priorities that may have occurred in recent years. Sex establishment policy consultation (closed 4 April 2011)

We asked for comments on our draft sex establishment policy which is intended to set out the principles which will be applied when determining licence applications for these types of activities. The policy came into force on 5 July 2011. More about sex shop licences.

Visiting and volunteering at Wycombe Museum (closed 28 February 2011)

Part of a wider externally funded (Renaissance South East) project called 'Volunteers for Museums', looked at improving visitor and volunteer involvement with Wycombe Museum. The project provided links to new communities in High Wycombe which has resulted in new volunteers starting at the Museum. As volunteer recruitment is an ongoing process anyone interested in volunteering should contact the Museum at museum@wycombe.gov.uk.

Wycombe Community Stadium and Sports Project - issues and options (closed Friday 29 October 2010)

The consultation on the Issues and Options stage of the Wycombe Community Stadium and Sports Project took place during autumn 2010. Over the past two months, work has focused on the analysis of the response to the consultation. Further technical work has also been undertaken on the options and sites. New governance arrangements under the Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 (closed 15 October 2010)

At the Council meeting on 5 July 2010, the advantages and disadvantages of the elected mayor and cabinet, and "strong" leader and cabinet models of executive arrangements were considered. Council resolved that it was minded to continue to operate under a strong leader and cabinet model, but with the leader elected on a four-year term as required by Section 67 of the Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Act 2007.

High Wycombe Conservation Area Appraisal (closed 4 October 2010)

Appraisals set out the qualities that give conservation areas their special architectural or historic interest, and are used in the determination of planning applications. For further information please see our conservation area appraisal page.

Licensing policy consultation (closed 4 October 2010)

We consulted on our draft statement of licensing policy under the Licensing Act 2003. An updated policy was published on Our Licensing Policy page.

Upgrade of play facilities at Desborough Recreation Ground (closed 27 August 2010)

We are proposing to upgrade the play facilities for 12 to 16 year olds at Desborough Recreation Ground. We are asking for views about what equipment should be included in the design.

Local community facilities consultation (closed 9 August 2010)

We have identified a potential gap in the provision of community facilities in High Wycombe. We are interested in finding out what facilities local people feel are needed in the area.

Recycling collections calendar and guide online survey (closed 6 August 2010)

Tell us what you think about the new recycling collection calendars by completing our online survey. Views expressed and answers given will be taken into account as we look to improve the new style calendar and guide.

Consultation on the upgrade of play facilities at Chairborough Local Nature Reserve (closed 30 July 2010)

We are proposing to upgrade the play equipment at Chairborough Local Nature Reserve and add a BMX track. We are asking for views about what other equipment should be included in the design.

Delivery and Site Allocations Update 2010 (closed 23 July 2010)

We have published an update to the Delivery & Site Allocations document. The document contains an update to some of our site specific and development topic policies. Stakeholders and the public are invited to submit their views on this update to the Council. For more information please see the Delivery and Site Allocations Update 2010.

Consultation on the upgrade of play facilities in High Wycombe (closed 18 June 2010 for Booker Recreation Ground and closed 25 June 2010 for Totteridge Recreation Ground)

We are proposing to upgrade the play areas at both Booker and Totteridge Recreation Grounds and are asking for views about what equipment should be included in the designs. To let us know what equipment you would like to see, please complete the play consultation survey.

Local Development Order (closed 19 February 2010)

This consultation is now closed. We wish to create a Local Development Order (LDO) to provide a flexible approach to use classes in the historic White Hart Street/Queen Square area of High Wycombe town centre to help fill up empty shop units here. The effect of the LDO would be that planning permission would not be required for certain uses on the ground floor units in the area. This consultation invited comments on the draft LDO. Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople interim policy statement (closed 29 January 2010)

This consultation is now closed. We are required by the Government to identify a number of sites to meet the housing needs of Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople. Working together with planning consultants, Baker Associates, we identified a number of possible locations across Wycombe district and developed a draft Interim Policy Statement (IPS) to provide a framework to meet shorter-term needs. This consultation invited comments on the IPS. More about Gypsy and Traveller services.

Consultation on the future use of Holywell Mead leisure facilities (closed 22 January 2010)

This consultation is now closed. The Council wants to see the complex reopened as a leisure facility. The challenge is to make the mix of leisure activities exciting enough to make this a well used service that operates at no cost to the Council taxpayer so we are inviting local residents to tell us what they would like see at the site. Designated Public Place Order in High Wycombe town centre (closed 4 January 2010)

This consultation is now closed. If approved, the Order is scheduled to become effective from April 2010 and will create a zone in which the police have powers to confiscate alcohol from people drinking in a public area. More information will be posted when available.

Budget simulator (closed 30 November 2009)

Athletics track

Over 125 people responded to the consultation about the proposed athletics track at Sir William Ramsay School, Hazlemere. Our answers to the main questions raised during the consultation are now available.

Buckinghamshire Place Survey

Nearly 14,500 Buckinghamshire residents including 3,500 from Wycombe district received the Place Survey questionnaire at the end of 2008. Central government requires all local authorities to carry out this survey every two years. It produces national performance indicators to show how individual authorities are performing. Results will be published in spring 2009.
