Consultations - have your say
This page lists opportunities for you to have your say about council plans and services.
Current consultations
A consultation is now underway on an updated conservation area appraisal for the High Wycombe conservation area. Appraisals set out the qualities that give conservation areas their special architectural or historic interest, and are used in the determination of planning applications. Comments are welcome on the draft appraisal until 4 October.
At the Council meeting on 5 July 2010, the advantages and disadvantages of the elected mayor and cabinet, and "strong" leader and cabinet models of executive arrangements were considered. Council resolved that it was minded to continue to operate under a strong leader and cabinet model, but with the leader elected on a four-year term as required by Section 67 of the Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Act 2007. Comments on this proposal can be made to the Head of Democratic, Legal and Policy Services by Friday 15 October 2010.
We are consulting on our draft statement of licensing policy under the Licensing Act 2003. The deadline for comments is: 4 October 2010.
We are consulting our council tenants and leaseholders on a proposal that could see 6,200 council homes transfer to a new, tenant-led, independent landlord called Red Kite Community Housing - if tenants back the plan in a confidential ballot to be held later this year (2010). Red Kite would be set up with our help, and tenants and leaseholders would be at the heart of everything it does.
Ongoing consultations
A group for tenants to help monitor and suggest improvements to our housing services.
A group of 12 tenants and 2 leaseholders who have been elected to represent the views of our tenants and leaseholders about housing issues.
You can also get involved with and have your views heard by councillors on our Improvement and Review Commission.

Local Development Order (closed: 19 February 2010)
This consultation is now closed. We wish to create a Local Development Order (LDO) to provide a flexible approach to use classes in the historic White Hart Street/Queen Square area of High Wycombe town centre to help fill up empty shop units here. The effect of the LDO would be that planning permission would not be required for certain uses on the ground floor units in the area. This consultation invited comments on the draft LDO. More about Planning consultations.
Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople interim policy statement (closed: 29 January 2010)
This consultation is now closed. We are required by the Government to identify a number of sites to meet the housing needs of Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople. Working together with planning consultants, Baker Associates, we identified a number of possible locations across Wycombe district and developed a draft interim policy statement (IPS) to provide a framework to meet shorter-term needs. This consultation invited comments on the IPS. More about Gypsy and Traveller services.
Consultation on the future use of Holywell Mead leisure facilities (closed: 22 January 2010)
This consultation is now closed. The Council wants to see the complex reopened as a leisure facility. The challenge is to make the mix of leisure activities exciting enough to make this a well used service that operates at no cost to the Council taxpayer so we are inviting local residents to tell us what they would like see at the site. More about the Holywell Mead public consultation.
Designated Public Place Order in High Wycombe town centre (closed: 4 January 2010)

Buckinghamshire Place Survey
Nearly 14,500 Buckinghamshire residents including 3,500 from Wycombe district received the Place Survey questionnaire at the end of 2008. Central government requires all local authorities to carry out this survey every two years. It produces national performance indicators to show how individual authorities are performing. Results will be published in spring 2009.
