Health promotion

Our health promotion role is to raise awareness about positive health choices. By working with other statutory and voluntary organisations and community groups, we promote health issues through engagement, facilitation and education. We are concerned with environmental and community issues as these have a major impact on overall health.

We often want to make a new start and get fit, or change our lives in some way. With the economic pressures affecting us all it is even more important that we look after our well-being. Making friends, keeping physically fit and healthy are essential for our well-being when the pressure is on.

You may be surprised by how many activities there are close to home, in schools and community halls which could help you to:

  • save time and money travelling
  • make new friends
  • get fit while having fun
  • de-stress through a new activity with new friends
  • join a group to help you loose weight rather than struggle on your own
  • support to stop smoking

Change4Life

Change4Life is a nationwide movement which aims to help us all, but especially our children, to eat well, move more and live longer. Making a Change4Life doesn't need to be difficult and with a little help, it can be really rewarding. Change4Life can help you with information and advice, tips and services local to you.

Make keeping fit easy - walk4life

If you work in the town centre of High Wycombe make a diary note to go out at lunch time 2 or more times a week and walk around the 1 mile fitness trail. It should take no more that half an hour and you can try to beat your own time each week. Print off a fitness form from the walk4 life website (link below) or pick up a form from the Boathouse when it is open.

Alternatively try the heritage trail or the town centre walk on walkit.com (link below).

The Great Swapathon

The Great Swapathon is a fun New Year activity from Change4Life to help you and your family make small, simple changes to eat well, move more and live longer. It's easy, fun, free and tailored to you or your family.
