Cemeteries and crematoria
We are responsible for the following cemeteries in the Wycombe district.
High Wycombe Cemetery
High Wycombe Cemetery covers an area of 17 hectares (42 acres) of hillside near the centre of the town and is the only cemetery that we own where interments still take place.

The Snowdrop Garden
The Snowdrop Garden is a section for the internment of babies, still born babies and young children.
It is situated off Benjamin Road, High Wycombe. This memorial garden is a separate section of High Wycombe Cemetery, which is used for the interment of babies, stillborn babies and young children. It provides a quiet spot for families wanting to remember their babies.

Opening times
The garden is open to visitors during the opening times of the main cemetery: 8am (except on Sundays and public holidays when it opens 10am) until sunset (as defined by us) or 9pm, whichever is the earlier. The closing time is posted on the gates as it changes throughout the year.
Maintaining the garden
The garden is managed on the "lawn principle" where graves are kept free from obstructions to permit frequent mowing of the grass. The cemetery officer will carry out routine inspections and any objects removed to allow mowing will be stored in the office at the Hampden Road gates, where they may be collected by arrangement during office hours.
As with the main cemetery, permission to inter remains in a specific plot is allocated to a named person. This is not however right of ownership. Ownership of burial rights lies with the local NHS Trust and it is the Trust that allocates a burial plot to the bereaved. Ownership of the land itself remains with us.
We are responsible for health and safety, the maintenance of the garden and enforcement of regulations.
Memorials
Written permission may be obtained for the temporary erection of a wooden cross, provided an application is made at the same time for a natural stone memorial. A memorial mason acting on the instruction of the named person normally makes the application.

St Lawrence's Churchyard
This is a closed churchyard in the village of West Wycombe. The church is situated on a hill above the village, next to the Dashwood family mausoleum and above the Hellfire Caves, with far reaching views across the Chiltern Hills.
All Saints Parish Church (graveyard only)
Situated in the centre of High Wycombe, we maintain the churchyard, including graves, memorials, grass cutting and floral displays. The cenotaph is the focus for Remembrance Sunday services in the town centre.
Chilterns Crematorium
Chilterns Crematorium is owned and operated by a joint committee on behalf of Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern and Wycombe District Councils. More about Chilterns Crematorium.
