June is national pet microchipping month
28 May 2010
Microchipping your pet gives it the best chance of being reunited with you if it gets lost or stolen.
What is microchipping?
A tiny microchip is inserted under the animal's skin. The microchip can be scanned and matched to the owner's details which are kept on a database. Collars and tags can get caught or be removed. Microchipping helps to identify your pet permanently.
Pets such as dogs, cats, rabbits and horses can be microchipped. Contact your local vet for more information.
Collar and tag your dog
Please note, it's a legal requirement for any dog in a public place to have a collar and tag with up-to-date details. Owners can be fined if their dog hasn't got them.
